Viral Hallucinations Symposium #2: Politics of Presence
- Lectures & Discussions
The second symposium in the series VIRAL HALLUCINATIONS explores the transformative impact of digital technologies and social media on the perception of bodies — both one’s own and that of others.
Bringing together artistic, academic, and curatorial perspectives, the event engages critically with the politics of presence, both physical and virtual, and interrogates the tensions between human sensory perception and machine vision.
How do digital representations of hybrid identities, political conflict, and bodily imagery reshape our sense of self, our presence in public spaces, and our ways of navigating, occupying, and sharing those spaces?
Who is entitled to claim space – and whose presence, movements, and interactions are governed by the implicit or explicit forces of surveillance, censorship, othering, hate speech, rituals of judgment, and the protocols of algorithmic visibility?
With Laia Abril, Nadine Isabelle Henrich, Jonas Hoeschl, Dr. Annekathrin Kohout, Dr. Jana Haeckel, Marco de Mutiis, Sheung Yiu.
