Rita Payés and Lucía Fumero are two kindred spirits who have found one another. The two Catalan women met and became friends whilst studying in Barcelona, but their music together speaks of a deeper, timeless connection. They share an authentic stage presence and both find their voice at the intersection of jazz, bossa nova and Spanish traditions. Following guest appearances on each other’s albums and countless joint concerts, a duo album is now eagerly anticipated for spring 2026.
Whether Rita Payés conjures sounds from the trombone or sings directly, the transition is almost seamless: »She sounds organic and warm, genuine and full of love. Music like an antidote to the times we live in«, writes the Swiss radio station SRF about the 27-year-old. She made her international breakthrough with her album »De camino al camino«, featuring acclaimed performances at the Montreux Jazz Festival and the Tiny Desk Concerts.
Lucía Fumero is also regarded as one of the most exciting voices in young Spanish jazz. The pianist, singer and composer has already shared the stage with artists such as Salvador Sobral and Sílvia Pérez Cruz. »For me, creativity arises where there are no boundaries. If you fixate too much on style or form, I often end up not liking the result«, says Fumero, who studied both classical and jazz piano.
