MEN'S ROLES
Lecture, performance and discussion | HAMBURG PREMIERE
MMK
MMK explores masculinities. To this end, the dance collective invites an author and a researcher to a shared evening of lecture, performance, and discussion. Together, they examine masculinity from autobiographical, theoretical, and dance perspectives, engaging in dialogue with each other and with the audience.
In the performance "Men Roll," dancer and choreographer Mark Christoph Klee explores his image of masculinity, shaped by his parents' craft business and his coming out as a young man. Within a stage set of 100 aerated concrete blocks, he searches for gentleness. He reflects on his own privileges and questions how patriarchal structures shape his relationship with his parents, extending deep into the queer community and even permeating his own sexual desire.
The three-part evening explores what happens when men get into motion, and with them, symbolically, an entire system.
