International Mendelssohn Festival
- Classical Music
A programme between dusk and dawn: In Michael Haydn’s lyrical »Notturno«, Johannes Brahms’ yearning »Rain Song Sonata« and Gaetano Donizetti’s cheerful trio for flute, bassoon and piano, a sound picture of the night unfolds in many facets. After the interval, Antonio Vivaldi’s concerto »La notte« conjures up the witching hour in a Venetian palazzo, before Antonín Dvoák’s colourful string quintet brings the evening to a lively and warm close. Music in the twilight – finely drawn, deeply felt.
