The participation of artists Rehema Chachage and Valerie Asiimwe in the exhibition AMANI kukita | kung’oa (15/02–09/06/2025) can be understood as just such a visit. But what kind of responses do we expect when we invite artists to take part in a provenance research project? Might it not involve entirely different ways of questioning, remembering, and speaking about colonial history – ones that go beyond what can be explored through academic research?
