Focus on Nature – the international Nature Writing Festival Hamburg 2025 presents our knowledge of nature, its impact, and its significance. Natural sciences and humanities, nonfiction, and literary formats present what they can say about nature: what can be said and where the limits of what can be said lie.
Homeland/Anti-Homeland - A conversation about where we live. Reading and discussion with Markus Thielemann and Anna-Katharina Wöbse. Audience discussion moderated by Reinhard Kahl.
The wolf is back in the Lüneburg Heath and elsewhere in northern Germany. A factual and ideological debate is unfolding around it, ultimately asking what the quintessentially German idyll of our "homeland" is connected to. Markus Thielemann has written a novel about it and has discussed the topic at numerous readings. At the Nature Writing Festival, he will meet with environmental historian Anna-Katharina Wöbse to explore how "German" our relationship with nature is. Journalist and author Reinhard Kahl will lead the discussion with the audience.
The event takes place as part of the Nature Writing Festival Hamburg 2025.
