Elisabeth Brauß has been praised by Gramophone Magazine for »the maturity and sophistication of her thoughtful interpretations«. Word of this quality spreads quickly – and so the young pianist can already be seen performing on the world’s major concert stages. For her performance in the »Pianomania« series, Brauß has put together a carefully curated programme centred on the composer Domenico Scarlatti.
The starting point is this year’s theme for »Pianomania«: Scarlatti’s delicate piano sonatas. From the approximately 550 surviving works, she has made a selection which she presents in small groups, thereby creating a new dramatic context through these groupings and fluid transitions. The programme is complemented by works by Isaac Albéniz, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Robert Schumann and Olivier Messiaen – a captivating journey through different styles, eras and soundscapes.
The pianist has already demonstrated on several occasions at the Elbphilharmonie just how nimbly and confidently she can navigate musical history, most recently with her congenial partner, the violinist Noa Wildschut. In the FAST LANE series, the two young musicians played »at a dizzying instrumental level« (Hamburger Abendblatt) and thrilled the audience.
