»Her bright timbre has something heavenly about it,« wrote the Hamburger Abendblatt of soprano Elionor Martínez. Her singing is so compelling and her coloratura so effortless that even the great early music authority Jordi Savall was eager to collaborate with her. At the Elbphilharmonie, Martínez performs arias by Claudio Monteverdi, Henry Purcell and George Frideric Handel, among others.
Alongside these undisputed masters of the Baroque, Martínez also champions the music of the now lesser-known composers Barbara Strozzi and Francesca Caccini, both of whom were highly esteemed not only as singers but also as composers of remarkable originality.
Although this marks Martínez’s first appearance in the Elbphilharmonie Recital Hall, she has already performed twice on the stage of its larger counterpart, appearing as a soloist in Beethoven’s »Christ on the Mount of Olives« and Mozart’s »Mass in C minor«. Of the latter performance, the Hamburger Abendblatt wrote, »Elionor Martínez, the outstanding presence among the five soloists, sings with flawless coloratura and complete assurance in the upper register, while remaining touchingly unaffected.«
