With the opening of Port des Lumières 2025 in Hamburg, Northern Germany’s largest permanent exhibition center for digital immersive art has opened its doors. Visitors can expect a diverse selection of exhibitions, state-of-the-art projection technology, high-quality design, and an extraordinary art experience that brings art to life in a whole new way.

A Truly Unique Exhibition Experience

Immersive exhibition formats have enjoyed great popularity for several years now. This digital form of presentation allows visitors to fully immerse themselves in the worlds of art, science, and other themes. Large-scale projections, room-filling sound, and moving images engage multiple senses simultaneously, creating an experience that goes far beyond the traditional viewing of a painting or film.
Port des Lumières is Hamburg’s destination for spectacular immersive experiences combining light, sound, and movement. In the heart of HafenCity, at Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier, a digital journey begins that brings images to life and transforms the entire space into a fascinating world of experience. Across 1,700 square meters of exhibition space and projection surfaces up to ten meters high, impressive visual worlds unfold, accompanied by specially curated soundscapes.

The ever-changing program ranges from atmospheric journeys through the paintings of renowned artists such as Vermeer, Van Gogh, and Monet to fascinating explorations of the world of dinosaurs, the depths of the ocean, and outer space. State-of-the-art projection technology, impressive sound, and the space’s unique architecture combine to create an experience for the senses. An Immersive Adventure with Asterix & Obelix or a Stroll Through Monet’s World of Color

“Asterix & Obelix – An Immersive Adventure” at the Port des Lumières takes the audience on a wild journey through the legendary Gauls’ most famous adventures. In search of the kidnapped druid Miraculix, the journey takes them from the indomitable Gaulish village through Lutetia, Egypt, and India all the way to Rome. Larger-than-life projections, spatial sound, and Albert Uderzo’s unmistakable artistic style bring the world of Asterix and Obelix to life. Wild brawls, fish fights, wild boar hunts, and an epic battle in the Roman Colosseum bring the comic book world to life. The immersive production combines nostalgia, humor, and spectacular audiovisual effects into an experience for fans of all ages of this European pop culture phenomenon, which has been shaping the scene since 1959.

“Monet: Master of Impressionism” at the Port des Lumières invites visitors on an immersive journey through the fascinating world of Claude Monet. Over 200 of his world-renowned works, including “Impression, Sunrise” and the famous Water Lilies series, come to life through monumental projections, spatial sound, and a captivating soundtrack. Play of light on the water, colorful landscapes, and iconic motifs allow visitors to immerse themselves deeply in Monet’s art and the world of Impressionism. The immersive presentation combines the timeless beauty of his works with modern technology, creating an audiovisual experience in which art is not merely viewed but directly experienced. The exhibition is complemented by a short showcase featuring the artist Félix Vallotton.
