The record store, which practically carries the coziness in its name, has dedicated itself to house and techno in all its forms and variations.
Run by Peter Kersten and Julius Steinhoff, who themselves are known as Sten and Lawrence as DJs and producers, the store carries important new releases and lover's stuff on vinyl, in a bright, tidy environment where there is also room for lovingly designed magazines. Smallville is not an elitist filling station for the hungry record bags of Hamburg DJs, but also a place for fans and casual listeners of electronic sounds to rummage and explore. Kersten is co-owner of the established Hamburg minimal label Dial, but with Smallville Records they have also created their own platform for releases.
