Some describe the Atlantic Hotel as the white castle on the Alster.
It was originally built as a grand hotel for passengers of the Hamburg America Line with extra wide corridors for the luggage from overseas. Today, the hotel is known above all for its iconic permanent guest Udo Lindenberg. Many years ago, he painted his first work of the “Likörelle” series, as he calls it, with eggnog. In the meantime, many of his pictures decorate rooms and corridors in the hotel. Those who can't get enough of Udo Lindenberg should go visit the exhibition "Panik City" in the Klubhaus St. Pauli.
