The two bar operators struck gold on Hamburger Straße in Barmbek-Süd, and early 2015, celebrated a raging comeback, which saw hordes of long-time guests and new customers flock to the red-brick venue.
Ever since, the musical sounds of national and international bands, artists and DJs have been ringing out here from 5pm onwards, while patrons indulge in a cool drink at the bar or in one of the deck chairs. A particular highlight, however, is the Open Stage, where, every Tuesday, old-time musicians and newcomers alike are given the opportunity to showcase their own songs on stage – we encourage a variety of music genres (just no German hit mix, please).
The team of around 20 people are constantly striving to offer their guests a homely bar atmosphere combined with a pure holiday vibe, due to its beachy interior design in a heritage-listed Gothic vault. But it’s precisely this combination which gives the venue its charm – the perfect fusion of beach bar, concert space and chillout lounge is what makes Freundlich+Kompetent so unique.
And just one tip to finish: Twice a year, the bar owners organise the Ramba Zamba, an indoor festival with a changing venue - an Event, which should not be missed! Moreover, every Sunday Freundlich+Kompetent offers you their space and screen as an alternative location to watch Tatort.
