The "Theater im Hafen" is home to the successful musical Disneys THE LION KING and offers unique musical enjoyment in the breath-taking setting of Hamburg port.
Even the route to the "Theater im Hafen" is a special experience: Visitors to the musical "Disneys THE LION KING" are transported across the Elbe to the venue on special ferries from the jetties before they can immerse themselves in the magical world of the musical. In addition to the maritime atmosphere and the impressive music and dance performance of the musical troupe, the theatre also offers an art collection with more than 50 exhibits from North German and international artists. The theatre also houses the exclusively equipped Skyline restaurant in which visitors to the musical can treat themselves to some culinary delights whilst they enjoy the wonderful view of Hamburg's panorama.
Disney's THE LION KING at the Stage Theater im Hafen
The musical takes you on a journey through the eternal cycle of life – a touching story about growing up, happiness, love and responsibility for one another. Experience a visual spectacle full of emotion and magic: over 300 breathtaking masks, puppets and props, as well as more than 400 fantastic costumes, make every scene a highlight. The experience is rounded off by the unforgettable music – a powerful mix of pop music by Sir Elton John and original African rhythms. Admission is approximately 1.5 hours before showtime. The exact time is stated on your ticket.
Duration of the show
The musical lasts approximately 3 hours including a 20 minute break.
Restaurant
Before or after their visit to the musical, guests can savour the international delicacies of the SKYLINE restaurant, with its direct panoramic view of the Hanseatic city skyline, or enjoy ice-cold drinks and cocktails in the Stage Club.
Food & drinks in the theatre
A selection of drinks and snacks is available for purchase at the theatre. Bringing your own food and drinks is not permitted. This includes beverage containers and food of any kind or size.
Arriving by shuttle service
We recommend arriving by shuttle service. The ships leave 2 hours before the start of the show from St. Pauli Landungsbrücken/Brücke 1 (for afternoon shows from 1.5 hours before the start of the show). The transfer is included in your musical ticket and is free of charge for you. Attention: the last ferry leaves 1.5 hrs after the end of the show.
Public Transport
- S-Bahn lines S1 and S3 to the Landungsbrücken stop
- Underground line U3 to the Landungsbrücken stop (now barrier-free)
- Harbour ferry runs regularly from St. Pauli Landungsbrücken, Brücke 1 (from two hours before the start of the performance / for afternoon performances from one hour before the start of the performance)
- Exclusive use of the ferries with HADAG Musical Shuttle Service (these are included in the ticket price and can therefore be used free of charge)
- The last ferry departs 1 ½ hours after the end of the performance and returns to St. Pauli Landungsbrücken (Bridge 1)
Travelling by car
Approach via the A7 motorway (north/south)
- take the Waltershof/Hafen junction (exit 30 HH-Waltershof)
- turn right into Finkenwerderstraße
- turn left onto Köhlbrandbrücke and follow the road
- after the Ellerholzbrücke bridge, turn left into Reiherdamm
- continue over the Argentinienbrücke bridge, then follow Reiherdamm
- turn right into the street Nordersand
Approach via the A1 (south/west)
- follow the A1 onto the B255 towards the centre of HH
- after crossing the Elbe bridges, follow the signs to HH-Centrum
- turn right into Baakenwerder Straße and then turn right again into Versmannstraße
- follow the road (Versmannstraße, Freihafen-Elbbrücke, Rampenstraße, Am Saalehafen, Veddeler Damm)
- after 4 km turn right towards Steinwerder into Reiherdamm
- continue over the Argentinienbrücke bridge and then follow Reiherdamm
- turn right into the street Nordersand
