Hamburg Film Festival

Film culture in Hamburg's cinemas

The Hamburg Film Festival will celebrate its 34th anniversary in 2026. Every autumn, it delights countless cinema fans over ten days on ten screens with around 70 national and international feature films and documentaries as world premieres, European premieres or German premieres.

As early as 1992, the first film festival was held in Hamburg. Exactly 11 years later, with Albert Wiederspiel taking office, the first MICHEL Children and Youth Film Festival took place in 2003.

In 2026, the Hamburg Film Festival will run from 24 September to 3 October, with screenings at the Abaton, CinemaxX Dammtor, Metropolis, Passage and Studio-Kino cinemas, among others.
