A grand piano and the stillness of the moment – that is all the Argentine pianist and composer Pablo Murgier Pazdera needs to fill a concert hall with evocative melodies and powerful rhythms. His music speaks of that hidden beauty which only reveals itself at second glance, of love and anger, of destruction and reconciliation.
For him, the piano has been a medium since childhood for questioning genre boundaries and connecting musical worlds. His classical training endows Murgier with immense virtuosity and formal clarity. Inspired by jazz greats such as Keith Jarrett and Brad Mehldau, he simultaneously breaks down traditional structures and creates space for improvisation, whilst remaining deeply rooted in the rhythms of his native Argentina. As a pupil of the great Hilda Herrera, he learnt to translate the pulsating accents of the tango and rural dances such as the chacarera onto the piano with percussive power.

His music is always linked to social issues. Through works such as the »Symphonie Solastalgie«, which addresses climate change, the orchestral project »Sarah et le Renard« for schoolchildren, and his work with Radio Mobile Paris, he explores social connections and environmental issues. His latest solo album, »Sirocco«, invites listeners to pause amidst the hustle and bustle of our times and listen to the subtle changes taking place.
