Birdland Hamburg

Jazz for connoisseurs

Musically sophisticated and extraordinary - this is how the Birdland Hamburg Jazz Club presents itself in Gärtnerstraße.

It is impossible to imagine Hamburg's jazz culture without Birdland as an event venue. Since 1985, countless music icons have performed here and thrilled the crowds with the soft sounds of their wind instruments and rousing drum rhythms. The founding couple retired in 2013. It took a good year until their sons, Ralph and Wollf Reichert, brought the rustic, wood-panelled cellar club back to life. Since then, regular jazz and other concerts have taken place in Birdland. The former music students are supported by two restaurateurs who take care of the hospitality for the guests.  Because after an exuberant dance, a cool beer is absolutely necessary!

For the 13th time, Clubkombinat Hamburg e.V. honoured the Hanseatic city's club and event scene in eleven categories in 2023. Birdland's "Hamburg reads burnt books and sings burnt songs" was the concert of the year 2023.

CITY AREA PORTRAIT Eimsbüttel & Eppendorf

Here, one can find magnificent old building façades, local and exquisite restaurants as well as fancy boutiques and owner-operated shops. While Eppendorf is rather fancy, one can feel the hanseatic serenity in Eimsbüttel. Both districts offer much green and water and are hence with good reason very popular neighbourhoods in Hamburg.
