Public Coffee Roasters

Public Coffee Roasters in Hamburg sells coffees from all over the world. Great emphasis is placed on fair trade relations, excellent bean quality and fresh, gentle and individual roasting.

There is a huge passion for the coffee bean and the roastery, and a young, cool coffee roaster team behind the Public Coffee Roasters in Hamburg.

If you come to the café in Neustadt as a connoisseur with a thirst for coffee, your own nose will tell you: you’ve come to the right place. While many coffee specialities are brewed by hand, they like to chat about the origins of the beans, their particular quality and the further processing in their own roastery. Making coffee is a craft, and whoever hasn’t heard of the term “third wave of coffee” will very likely know what it refers to after they’ve been here. Slurping your coffee is encouraged here, because the guys at Public Coffee Roasters want their customers to take the time to taste all the fine nuances of the coffee aromas they are so fond of.

This is also the reason why there is no Wi-Fi in the café, and that you can instead read high-quality, international lifestyle and food magazines in collaboration with Coffee Table Mags.

Just switch off from the hectic, digital world for a while and enjoy a damn good coffee in peace – that’s the aim. And you can do this either at one of the comfortable wooden tables or at a window seat with an outside view.

In addition to excellent coffees, whose different taste nuances include shades of berry and chocolate and nutty aromas, small snacks are also served: there is homemade cake and a small but tasty selection of sandwiches and breakfasts. But the focus is definitely on the coffee bean – when you come to Public Coffee Roasters, you come to enjoy the coffee.

Incidentally, you can purchase hand-roasted coffee in the café shop to take home and enjoy. Just not on Sundays, when the place is closed. My personal favourite is the Startlight Espresso Blend with a shade of dark chocolate hazelnut.

The restaurant Hamburger Elbspeicher on the first floor of an old Elbe warehouse offers marvellous views of the Elbe, the Port of Hamburg, cranes, dock 11 and Blohm und Voss, and in summer the large Elbe terrace.
