Banksy - a British street art artist or a collective? Banksy challenges the art market. Their works provoke and touch. The exhibition THE MYSTERY OF BANKSY - A GENIUS MIND in the former premises of Galeria Kaufhof in Hamburg's city centre takes up the challenge of bringing together the complete works of the unknown artist, questioning them and making them comprehensible.

In keeping with Banksy's way of working, this exhibition does without gallery spaces, originals or copyright. Rather, it is about thematising the entire oeuvre and the mystery surrounding the name Banksy. Who is behind the world-famous art icon? From June, more than 150 works will be exhibited in Hamburg in a unique and elaborate curation by street art expert Virginia Jean; among them graffiti and photographs, sculptures, video installations and prints.

Banksy's works address all his viewers. They create space and attention for political and social conflicts, for unsolved problems, for world events. They reveal themselves to their audience without words and speak truths to which many like to close their eyes, says the curator. The exhibition opens on 3 June 2022 and is open until October.
