Zaho de Sagazan began her stellar career in France in early 2023 and has been causing a stir internationally since her performances at the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris and at the Cannes Film Festival in 2024. The 25-year-old is currently the face and voice of French chanson par excellence. Zaho de Sagazan now appears at the Elbphilharmonie with orchestral arrangements of the songs from her debut album »La symphonie des éclairs«.
The album title translates roughly as »lightning symphony« and describes the artistic range of the singer from the working-class Breton harbour town of Saint Nazaire very well: solemn, emotional piano ballads meet danceable electro songs with intense light shows. »Saint Nazaire was completely destroyed in the war and rebuilt with steel and concrete. Yet at the same time, it has this sweeping view out to the horizon. If Saint Nazaire is a mix of an industrial town and the poetry of the sea, my music is a little bit too.«

Not only Zaho de Sagazan’s unique voice is inextricably linked to her songs, but also her stage shows – her spontaneous, self-forgotten, authentic dance moves in particular have become legendary: »There’s nothing more beautiful than freedom. If things are choreographed, it doesn’t feel so free. I like not knowing what I’ll do.« So it will also be exciting at the Elbphilharmonie when hits like »Ne te regarde pas« are performed in a new orchestral guise.
