Prateek Vijan: and Others who wish to remain anonymous
  • Exhibition

The starting point of Vijan's artistic practice is his own history, which he understands not as an individual fate, but as a politically, bureaucratically and socially formed constellation. His work tells of the arbitrariness of colonial property claims, how these are socially produced and stabilised and are still embedded in institutions today, as well as their colonial history. For the Kunstverein, Vijan is developing an expansive installation that transforms the architecture of the ground floor. The exhibition explores the possibility and planning of counterlooting as well as the connection between space, hierarchy, and power.
