It is the highlight of the autumn markets in the region and will take place this year for the 33rd time - the potato Sunday in Dannenberg. For decades, the first Sunday in November has traditionally been dominated by the tuber, as the potato is universally known. And so the Werbegemeinschaft Dannenberg eV is once again looking forward to thousands of visitors from town and country as well as from near and far as the source of ideas and organizers. In November 1986, when the club's businessmen came up with the idea of having a potato market in the city center in the fall, they certainly had not thought of such a groundbreaking success. And so the marketing association has once again put together an interesting range of potato products this year, offering numerous attractions for all ages.
On November 3, more than 150 stands and shops open for business will present their guests and invite the visitors to linger. Likewise, many clubs, associations and artisans enrich the market. Musically, the Sunday is again accompanied by the popular "little village music" from Wustrow, the moody and good-humored draws through the streets. Klaus Preetz will also be musically active in the Marschtorstraße. He traditionally plays the potato song composed especially for this day.
In line with the harvest season, the merchants beautify the marketplace again with a nostalgic harvest wagon, which is set in the autumn. The fruit and vegetables is a donation from Pröhl's farm shop, whose goods can be bought in the regional market hall and the Famila department store in Dannenberg. Afterwards, the healthy decoration will be forwarded to the Dannenberger Tafel.
Of course, the market offers all sorts of culinary delights again this year. The focus is on the Dannenberger course, the tuber. From the Erdapfel as a baked potato, fries, potato pancakes, potato soup to hearty fried potatoes with onions and bacon everything is there. In addition to the classic dishes, exotic dishes such as potato schnapps, potato pies and potato jam are also very popular with visitors - all of these culinary variations of the potato can of course be sampled everywhere.
In the meantime, a campaign of the advertising community has developed into a small tradition especially for the youngest visitors of the potato Sunday. Under the motto: "Mom, my fries are growing in the field!", Stefanie Piel and Katharina Rohwedder of the advertising community will once again inspire many kids and bring the potato theme closer to play. With the support of the Sparkasse (Foyer Mühlentor 1-3) they will peel the regional potatoes with the small visitors and bring them into the popular form. Subsequently, the homemade blanks are fried. Then they can be eaten, of course.
If you come to Dannenberg on Sunday from 12.00 o'clock, you will not be able to withstand the smell of roasted, roasted, boiled and savory.
The Werbegemeinschaft Dannenberg and all merchants are looking forward to seeing you!
