How does the propeller drive? How big are the diesel engines of large ships?
Experience the answer to these questions and all the other questions about marine propulsion in this particular guide.
A special attraction of the Elbschifffahrtsmuseum is the "Schatzkammer der Schiffsantriebe" in the vaulted cellar of the historic building. Here steam engines and diesel engines of different types are shown. The collection is unique in Germany in its kind, nowhere is the mechanization of shipping presented as consistently as here.
And only during a guided tour can you experience the big machines in motion, the raising and lowering of the pistons, the turning of the paddle wheel, the art of engineering uniquely represented.
The number of participants is limited, a registration is required until Friday, 16:00 clock under the telephone number 04153 5909-219 or under museum@lauenburg.de.
