The Altonaer Museum has 17 North German farmhouse parlors. They form a unique ensemble that offers an insight into the rural living culture of the 18th and 19th centuries. The rooms belong to the oldest collection of the Altonaer Museum. Otto Lehmann, the first director of the Altonaer Museum, traveled around Schleswig-Holstein around 1900 to acquire as many as possible completely preserved farmhouse parlors for the museum
