It has already been five years since the Elbphilharmonie opened its doors. Now the landmark's fifth anniversary is being celebrated within a week.
After the opening of the Elbphilharmonie, the imposing building impressed millions of visitors; hundreds of thousands watched moving concerts in the halls of the concert hall - until the Corona pandemic arose and the "Elphi" had to close its doors again. Nevertheless, the house wants to build on the successes before the pandemic and is doing so as part of its fifth anniversary.
Expectations for the anniversary week
The celebrations for the special event have already been prepared. A week of celebrations is planned, both in the Great Hall and the Small Hall. Hamburg orchestras as well as famous personalities from outside are invited. While the Philharmonic State Orchestra and Kent Nagano will kick things off, 11 January belongs to the two resident orchestras themselves. On that anniversary, the programme will consist of contemporary music with the help of prominent support.
At the end of the anniversary week, the audience orchestra will play in the Great Hall.
