Discovery Dock

Breathtakingly realistic, fascinatingly informative - in the Discovery Dock the port of Hamburg becomes a virtual adventure playground. The adventure world opposite the Elbphilharmonie in the middle of Hamburg's HafenCity invites you to experience the big and small adventures of the immediate surroundings in a spectacular way.

A rendezvous with the wool hand crab, as a customs investigator on the trail of smugglers or manoeuvring containers with the megacrane: The Discovery Dock thus creates a place where the port, as the heart of Hamburg in all its diversity, becomes a digital and visual experience for Hamburgers and tourists. With the combined know-how of science, business, media and the city, visitors can immerse themselves in the life and working world of the port and make an unforgettable experience with multi-media technologies such as virtual reality, multisensory worlds of experience and digital learning.

In the Discovery Dock you can not only discover, but also take part yourself

In a group size with a maximum of 35 persons from approx. 10 years, 8 guided tours of 50 minutes each are available daily between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., in which visitors can experience the almost 300 square meters of space in German and English. The best: Here you can not only discover, but also take part yourself. Many of the multimedia stations function interactively. The visitor solves tricky tasks in order to dive even more intensively and impressively into the world of experience of the Port of Hamburg. And if there are any questions, experienced guides will help, who will be happy to help you at any time.

The Discovery Dock is the world's only and first mixed-reality adventure world

Located in the heart of Hamburg's HafenCity, the Discovery Dock opened its doors in May 2019. Tourists, technology enthusiasts and harbour lovers can learn interesting facts about Hamburg harbour in a 50-minute tour through the almost 300 square metre area. The Discovery Dock is suitable for children aged 10 and over.
