The charismatic conductor François-Xavier Roth wants to appeal to a broad audience. And so not only does his program in Hamburg cover a wide range of time, but there are also some refinements in terms of the cast. For example, in Haydn's Symphony "The Philosopher" two English horns contribute to the dignified mood, while the symphony "With the timpani roll" already reveals its peculiarity in the title. The two works frame the expressive double concerto for two string orchestras, piano and timpani by the Czech composer Bohuslav Martinů and György Ligeti's "Hamburgisches Konzert", in which the composer experimented with alternative moods and for which the solo horn of the Berliner Philharmoniker Stefan Dohr joins the orchestra.
