Original Patricks Buttjes

Vegan snack bar on two wheels

There are about one million people living in German, who only eat vegan.

It’s a personal decision to forgo the consumption of animal products, mainly from a moral, ethical or health perspective, as displayed in media. Fact is that vegan meals are even more delicious and therefore ‘meat eaters’ also tend to eat it once in a while.

Patrick Wehrend is the best example that you don’t have to become a vegan to enjoy delicious vegan meals. The former hotelier worked as a Reservation Manager in a hotel, before he started his independent Food Bike called Original Patricks Buttjes (#dontcallitfalafel) in April 2016.

Since then the Hamburg gastronomer has been serving his vegan wraps (consisting of vegetable patty, white cabbage and wheat wraps) all over Hamburg. Primarily on weekend markets, street festivals, sporting events and company celebrations. Moreover, big events, such as the Hamburg’s Port Birthday, the Elbriot festival, HSH Nordbank Run or the Hella half-marathon are buzzing about the vegan delicacies and soon it is time for the Foood Truck Festival on the Spielbudenplatz.

What make them so special are not just the exquisite ingredients, which are freshly prepared on the mobile kitchen, but the five different Sauces created by Patrick Wehrend himself. Customers can also choose from two toppings for their wrap, either grilled vegetables (pepper, zucchini, carrots, potatoes, garlic or spices) and humus – these wraps are the perfect snack for everyone taking a break or on the go.
