Watersports in Hamburg

Whether on or in the water: sport around the moist element means pure variety! Lone fighters can prove themselves in water skiing, team players feel particularly comfortable in the dragon boat. Those who don't want to dive in completely can start a comfortable boat tour over the Alster and water rats will certainly find the right course in the big world of aqua-fitness. Let us inspire you!

1. Aqua-Fitness

For example at the Aqua Fitnessclub at the Alster-Schwimmhalle or in the indoor swimming pool Blankenese you can regularly exercise at aqua-fitness. In addition to classic aqua-fitness exercises, more unusual variations such as aqua jogging (especially good for endurance), aqua cycling (particularly strengthens arms, legs, abdominal and back muscles) and aqua jumping (promotes blood circulation in a particularly joint-gentle way) are on the agenda.

2. Water skiing

In Hamburg's water skiing facility, only 15 minutes from the city centre, both beginners and advanced skiers are welcome guests. Beginners are given the necessary know-how before they can complete their first rounds. If you are already standing safely on the boards, you can show your skills on an obstacle course.

3. Boat rentals

The best way to explore Hamburg from the water without getting (too) wet yourself is a boat trip. Boats and canoes can be hired at numerous locations in Hamburg - we have a map of all boat rentals for you. And if it gets too exhausting, you can of course just let yourself drift away.

4. Dragon Boat Centre

"We are all in the same boat" is literally the motto here: Dragon boats are long, open paddle boats with space for up to 20 paddlers. Whether as a hobby or a company event with several boats at the same time, one thing is clear: in this team sport you can only reach the finish line together!

5. Canoe Polo

Handball, basketball and a little bit of rugby characterize the sport of canoe polo. In the fast, physically intensive game, two teams, each consisting of five players, compete against each other. The small one-man kayaks in which the players sit are particularly suitable for fast manoeuvres and paddle sprints. Since 1995 there has even been a German Canoe Polo Bundesliga. Various clubs in Hamburg offer this exciting sport!
