It's happening again on 29 April 2018: The 33rd Haspa Marathon in Hamburg is coming up, and the euphoria is undimmed. Since its start in 1986, the Hamburg Marathon is the most traditional major sporting event in the Hanseatic city.

More than 18,000 amateur and world-class runners participate each year on the highly attractive and fast course in Germany's number one sports city. Up to 700,000 spectators cheer on the runners along the route, which includes and combines the loveliest attractions in the Elbe metropolis: Starting off at the Hamburg Messe, past the Landungsbrücken and HafenCity towards the Inner Alster and Outer Alster. Then continuing towards the Stadtpark and to the most northern point of the entire route in Ohlsdorf. Constantly being cheered on by fanatical supporters all the way to Eppendorfer Baum until they reach their final destionation in the district Rotherbaum.

    Hamburg – Germany’s Nr.1 sports city

You prefer cycling instead of running? Yearly Hamburg hosts the popular Cyclassics, an event for both professional and hobby cyclist. In addition the city offers many more attractive sporting competitions throughout the year. For the more experienced athletes awaits 2017 the first Hamburg Ironman , with 3.8 kilometres swimming and 180 kilometres cycling. If this sounds too extreme, there is another option which could be taken into consideration – the classic Hamburg Triathlon.
