No composer could tell fairy tales as well as Pyotr Tchaikovsky. The Russian romantic seemed to be born to it, and his musical language, saturated with poetry and melodies, was made for it. No wonder that Tchaikovsky created his most famous works of all for the ballet stage: here it is important to create pictures and scenes that have a great impact even without words. Tchaikovsky was a master at it - and the "Swan Lake" was his masterpiece. Imagination, color and musical ingenuity are so strong in this "Ballet of All Ballets" that no staging is required. Vladimir Jurowski is also convinced of this. "The most important thing is music," says the Russian, who grew up with Tchaikovsky's ballets.
