20 May - 18 September 2022 8TH EDITION OF TRIENNIAL OF PHOTOGRAPHY HAMBURG

The Triennial of Photographie is a special festival of photography and, with the joint appearance of the ten most important houses of the city of Hamburg for photography, is also unique and important internationally. The festival was initiated by the photographer and collector F.C. Grundlach in 1999 and has since been held every three years in Hamburg and the surrounding area in cooperation with the museums and cultural institutions. The Triennial of Photography has developed into an internationally important festival within the photography scene and will once again make the city of Hamburg an international photography hotspot.

In 12 exhibition spaces, the 8th edition of Triennial of Photography Hamburg 2022 will illuminate the theme "Currency" from different perspectives and at the same time encourage reflection on the power of photography today. The transfer of the economic concept from the world of business to art and culture will be related to multifaceted explorations of photography in the form of photo albums from the colonial era to fantasies made figurative, experimental photographs to social documentary photography, with which photographs are produced, circulated and interpreted.
