Harburg Christmas market

From 23 November to 29 December 2017

"Small but nice" is the slogan here. With the picturesque, historic backdrop of the illuminated Harburg Town Hall, the small city of stands has been created with tiny, skewed, half-timbered houses, lending the Rathausplatz a festive mantle.

The first Christmas market of Hamburg on Harburg's Rathausplatz is a very special experience for many visitors; at nightfall thousands of lights create a warm and cosy atmosphere. At the traditional Christmas market with the historic Town Hall as a backdrop, there are many wonderful gift ideas and delicious delicacies that will surprise you. Surrounding the lovingly decorated Christmas tree, the children's carousel and the fairy-tale figures, you can look over the shoulders of the craftsmen, experience the gospel choirs and marching band, and get in the mood for the festive season with roasted almonds and doughnuts served in paper cones.

The market is especially atmospheric at around 6pm every evening: From a window of the Town Hall, Christmas songs ring out with chorales from the tower horn players. The focus is on the children, however, for whom an extensive programme has been arranged.
