The smallest Christmas market in the city - therefore called the "Weihnachtsbummel" or "Christmas stroll" - takes place in the heart of Eppendorf.

On the recently completed Marie-Jonas-Platz, you can stroll through the many new shops as you please and pause for a while in the prettily decorated Weihnachtsbummel. The nice and festive atmosphere allows the residents of Eppendorf to enjoy a mug of mulled wine or a portion of fresh doughnuts in the evening, watch their children riding the carousel or meet colleagues and friends for a natter.

There is a new, very attractive cultural programme with children's entertainment, fun and songs: Sunday starts off with the kids' sing-along "Hexe Knickebein", which has already achieved cult status at other markets. With simple musical instruments and costumes, the children are encouraged to participate and sing along. In addition, three music groups – the Lion Choir from the grammar school Eppendorf and the school choirs of the grammar schools Knauerstrasse and St. Nicolai – from the district provide a Christmas ambience. The children are also collecting for a charitable cause and are supporting the Fördergemeinschaft Kinderkrebs-Zentrum Hamburg e.V. (charity for children with cancer) of the Eppendorf Clinic.
